Yet another first for Scotland

While Scotland is famed for many inventions, the world's most popular and widely practiced activity first occurred here in Scotland 385 million years ago. No, I'm not talking about golf - I am of course referring to sexual intercourse. :D

However....... it wasn't all that popular and so quite quickly (in terms of evolution) disappeared as a form of reproduction. :P

"As fish evolved, they reverted back to spawning, in which eggs and sperm to fertilise them are released into the water by female and male creatures respectively. It took another few million years for copulation to make a come-back, reappearing in ancestors of sharks and rays."

Oh, the irony of the scientific name, which I presume was chosen long before the more recent discovery! ;) :D

And I dream of a day when our superficial gaze
is replaced with something more real
And the lines on the face are a thing to celebrate
for the tales that they tell
