Postby Runrig Office » Mon Oct 08, 2007 12:05 pm

The band and office would like to hear from fans who have seen any of the current shows. Any reviews of these shows, along with photos, would be welcome and may be used in the next issue of the Wire. Send to the office in Aberdeen or email office@runrig.co.uk
Photos should be hi-res (300dpi).
Mike.

I hate to say I'm amused - the Nottingham Concert Hall had signs all over asking people to hand in their cameras! :? There was a photographer running around the stage I noticed!

We have video taken using camera on phone, are these of any use?
year of the flood,
clash of the ash,
scandavia,
the edge,
something's got to give.

I took some at York, but the idiot of an usher was like 'stop using your cam', so I had to be sly and take snaps when he wasn't looking my way, and I couldn't use flash as that was a blatant giveaway.

:D I had no problems taking pics at Basingstoke on Saturday, but it's either the photographer or the camera, they are not very good (the pics, I mean).

The gig at UEA was brilliant if that's worth noting! I've been twice to Cambridge, once to Ipswich and also went to Beat The Drum, but the gig at UEA was probably my favourite thus far...

Can't put my finger on it, but it was absolutely brilliant.

Hi, this is the review I did for the Evening Times. It's a bit disjointed but I only had 150 words to play with.
lornax

Runrig. Dec 8. Barrowlands. Final national date of the "Every thing you See" tour.

The stage was dominated by two impressive drum kits - the back bone to the rhythm of the music.

When Runrig appeared, the place erupted and a whirlwind of music kept the sweat running down our faces all night. The entire band shone in their musicianship; the set had a rockier feel to it that gave a contrast to the fewer gentler songs, with Rory Macdonald taking the lead in the Gaelic. The sensuality as interpreted by his voice and his songs sends tingles down the spine, into the soul. The band left the stage and on came the stage crew to play their version of "Lay Your Money Down", they had a ball and so did their audience. As the song progressed Runrig re-emerged to finish the night with "Loch Lomond"

The Runrig faithful, after what felt like a ridiculously short time, moved on, filled with beer and bonhomie from the Barrowland Ballroom.

I saw the band three times in Germany, and each and every time I was saddened that Rory's voice just did not come through loud and strong enough during the Gaelic songs.
He sounds great on the CDs but live is just not happening. Perhaps something for the sound engineers to play with.
Otherwise, all concerts were absolutely fabulous.
Thanks for the opportunity to give some input.

woj is right; we saw the band at UEA Nov 07 and it was a great gig. Nearly as good as Bristol Colston Hall back in 199x with Donnie Munro. Bruce is an excellent alternative.
