I think sometimes people just look at the last post in the thread, you're very welcome on the forum. :)

Afriad I can't answer your question on whether the band could visit Holland though there's a few Dutch riggies on the forum so there's a few folk there at least. Have you seen the band before at all?

haven't seen them live only on two dvd's and that was great.

Does anyone know if Runrig plays gigs in other countries then Denmark and Germany. Could they be convinced to perform in Amsterdam? Or is the fan base in Holland to little to make this happen?

There is a small Dutch fans group - I knew there was something about them somewhere on here so i had a look and found this:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=6231

Hope you can get in touch with other like-minded fans in Holland now: I think they may organise trips as a group to some of the gigs?. :rose:

@ puffin
Hi thanks. I found a fan club in Holland as well. I don't really like to go en group to concerts all organized and far away.
So I wished they would do a gig in Holland, but I already got a reply from the bands management that they're not interested in playing in Holland.

Hi, have been reading as a guest for ages and finally decided to join in! Have been a fan for many years and go to concerts when we can, although it's usually a long way from Cornwall! We are coming up to Scotland this summer though-it was my Christmas present from my husband. We both do our exercise to Runrig songs every day keeps them fresh!!
love all the songs and my favourite changes all the time, currently Proterra and Gabriel's sword!

Hello gillyp and welcome. Silly isn't it how we have to get brave before we join  You certainly have to be prepared to travel for Runrig but oooooh they are so worth it. Do you speak Cornish? (another Celtic language by the way) One of my Sheltie dogs - hence the name - is Cornish bred - Conorvean Scantleglaze. I know what it means and just wondered if you did.

Hi, No unfortunately, just a few words. Am just writing this listening to Amazing Things CD in the background. Have been interested in all the discussions of changes in the band. As a non-Scottish person all I can say is that I love the band in all its incarnations and don't know why we have to compare rather than appreciate each one for what it gives us. I cannot say I prefer one line up to another and listening to different live versions keeps you fresh. Have visited Skye on a number of occasions and love it-you can see why it is so inspirational. Now we are both retired perhaps we can spend more time travelling to shows!!

You're so right gillyp, Donnie was then and Bruce is now, Haven't we been so lucky to have both of them
We too are retired now and spend as much time as we can up there. They have a lot to answer for, these guys
By the way it means 'small dog slate grey'. Clever for a blue merle sheltie. Enjoy the forum

Well Gillyp, I am glad you decided to get on the bandwagon. Some of us travel from the U.S. to see this marvelous Band. I missed them this year - oh 2011 was a long year - ..... but I am looking forward to seeing them in Denmark in a month or so. Too bad they don't come closer to me, but then i have to come closer to them. It is so worth it. i am also retired so it is a bit easier to do this. But pricey. And priceless!! Can't wait until June 2 - in Fredericia.......

Hi I joined because I have been a fan for years and wanted to get up to date with the band. I heard they took a year and a half off and was worried that they might have been gone forever.

What a bunch of sad Riggies we'd be if that happened!

Can't wait til August. Have what looks like a great apartment booked for 4 days so we should get around a bit. Have just finished a great work out to Once in a Lifetime CD! It's amazing how far people travel to see the band- not that I blame them I would travel anywhere if I had to and could afford it! They are unique and really stir something inside whenever I listen to them- which is every day I guess! The US makes Cornwall look quite paltry!

Good evening (it's not quite Midnight in the Midwestern USA). I joined because I just discovered the board via the official site.

I discovered Runrig via YouTube -- both BBC Alba's opening (Kirsteen MacDonald? Um, Damn!) and then the original video of "Alba" (Ah, '80s hair and mulletude) -- while researching things to do and see in Scotland just before my wife and I visited in July 2009. I watched every other Runrig vid I could find and then made sure to pick up The Cutter & The Clan when I found it while in Edinburgh.

Unfortunately we missed them that summer, but I maintain hopes that one day they'll make it here to Chicago.

Hi, like to say Latha math (hello),
it`s me, I`m new here. hope I remember enough words in english ;)
I heard the fist time runrig music about 2 years ago, don`t know why so late, but now I heard it again and fell in love, amazing.
I love the gaelic songs, learning this beautiful language now, and how Rory sings them so magical and heart-touching
hope to see them soon and you other fans too :)

Fàilte agus Willkommen, Evanna! :rose:

Hope you continue to enjoy Runrig for many years to come. Usually, once you're 'bitten', that's it for life!

One of the nice things about coming late to the band is that you have so much to discover. :music:

Have you seen Runrig live? If not, really try to do so! They tour Germany a lot. Or try to get to one of the Scottish dates - always a great atmosphere!

Are you learning Gaelic? You can also do that in Germany: http://www.schottisch-gaelisch.de
and I can recommend the international Gaelic forum: http://www.foramnagaidhlig.net/foram

Oh, and I'm Number 1 Rory fan!
