Tom Waits is one of my favourite artistes - indeed, he's in the top three. This morning I've been listening/watching to a couple of videos which show him in two different styles. I loved them both.

Tom Waits - Hold On
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0P5jV4lHHR0

And then a different face of Tom Waits (and an astonishing video) with "Hell Broke Luce", maybe the angriest anti-war song I know

Betty Blowtorch - "Hell on Wheels".

Who said girls can't rock? Well, me actually, but this band just proves me utterly wrong. I can do no better than quote an amazon.com reviewer: "Whats Raunchier than AC/DC with Bon Scott, louder than Lemmy and Motorhead, rawer than Sid and the Pistols and catchier than Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys? Betty Blowtorch".

So he should - they are! Or should I say "were" - lead singer Bianca was killed in a car crash back in 2001. I only heard of them a week ago and am now tempted to get their only album.

I take it he didn't like Tom Waits?

One from the vaults but still a tremendous sound & song:
'Have Mercy, I cry city' The Incredible String Band
Off to see Mike Heron & Trembling Bells (who they, shows my age) recreate classic ISB songs at The Sage, Gateshead.
Brings back memories of seeing the full band regularly in Glasgow 60s & 70s so started listening again to some tracks. This from ' The Hangman's Beautiful Daughter'
Well worth a listen for what it is and then led to.

Have to share this one, it's totally epic!!!! It's a new track from the upcoming Lingua Mortis Orchestra and it's based on a true story about a priests widow who was accused of witchcraft in a small town in Germany!
Only 38 days until it gets premiered and I'm gonna be there which is going to be absolutely, mega, amazingly, brilliant!
Not that I', excited about it or anything!!!!

Pogues, Dirty old town
Emiliana Torrini, Beggar's Prayer
Enya's album, The Celts
Die toten Hosen, Ballast der Republik, album
it is their newest one, thought with the time it could fade away, but they're just getting better...

It always comes back to Bob, recorded in 1970 but from the latest bootleg tapes album and only due to be released on Tuesday:
Pretty Saro
Worth going to www.bobdylan.com to see the photos of farmers in the dust bowl as well as listen to the song.

Here's for the Dylan fans, 50 years late, but the official video of Like a Rolling Stone. It's an interactive video, you can click the up/ down buttons like a TV and see people lip-syncing to the song but Bob is in there, so keep changing that channel.
