Re: The Water of Life......what are you drinking now!!!

This week we had a tasting with the Scotch Malt Whisky Society which is quite unusual as membership is quite exclusive and the whiskys even more so, limited to about 200 bottles of each whisky available only for members. We started off with cask No 9.75 – 9 being the society distillery number and th...

Re: The Water of Life......what are you drinking now!!!

Well....... That was interesting!!! Not sure if I'm TOO tipsy or not (make up your own mind on that one!) but that really was an unusual whisky tasting session. We started off with a blended whisky which was actually pleasant and not too grainy but for me just lacked a bit in the flavour, I prefer s...

Re: The Brian Appreciation Thread

I've got to agree about Precious Years simply being a poor arrangement and nothing to do with Brians voice. There will always be some songs that some singers just simply don't suit and there are other where they make an excellent show for a voice. Take Somethings Got To Give, a great song that is su...

Re: Question for the men....

Oasis. Now I admit that I wouldn't know an oasis track if it came up and slapped me in the face, so I've just listened to a few on YouTube and still couldn't tell one from another. I do know a few Oasis songs, they are probably the best band in what I would describe as being a very poor rock genere...

Re: Question for the men....

What you haven't told us is what sort of music he does "get". It's really hard to judge something like this without a reference point to start with. Also, tell us more about why he doesn't get Runrig's music. Is it the language in the Gaelic songs, the cultural or geographic references tha...

Re: Party On The Moor - Thoughts!

Forgive me, this is my first submission, I have always followed the forum, but been afraid to subscribe owing to being afraid of not offering something valuable, but hey this old guy has taken the plunge. And it's a plunge well worth taking!! Welcome to the forum, there is no need to apologise for ...

Re: Great Gig... shame about the security and the idiots

Maybe the organisers could take advise from the organisers of T In The Park and Glastonbury who must deal with similar problems in much larger crowds. Compared to such festivals I think their organisers would say that Runrig crowds with the odd drunken idiot is extreamly tame by comparison. As far ...

Re: Donnie And Peter At POTM

I sort of expected Donny to come on and sing a couple of songs while Bruce had a break but never expected to see and hear them performing together. That was an unbelievable moment and there were more than a few people shedding a tear or two during The Cutter!

Re: Great Gig... shame about the security and the idiots

The smoking thing is something completely different from the drunkeness and is down to two things, cultural attitudes towards smoking and Scottish laws being light years ahead of the rest of Europe. I was in Germany at the Wacken Festival just before the Party and the number of people smoking during...

Re: Great Gig... shame about the security and the idiots

To be honest there were a couple of incidents but at an event like this I was determined not to let it spoil the atmosphere and so clapped harder, sang louder and danced with more and more people in an ever increasingly maniacal way and at the end hugged lots and lots of people, mostly to apologise ...

Re: Yourself and Runrig

I've been to gigs with friends, family and on my own but as Spud says I pretty much always find at least a couple of people that I know from the forum or previous gigs. The atmosphere/feeling is always different depending on who you are with and their reaction to the songs if they know them or not, ...

Herzchen, are you close to Frankfurt? I was delayed there for a while today on my way home. The only word I could use to describe that storm was 'spectacular'!!!

Re: Runrig wedding songs!!

What about the "only rose" that is such a beautiful song One of my favourite songs, especially the Live at Celtic Connections version but not what I would have thought of as an appropriate wedding song!!! I'll agree with Rooster on this one, Solus Na Madainn would be perfect. The Morning ...
