Re: Closure of Forum

Well, I guess that's it. It's the right decision, Crunchie, but I'll miss everyone. However, time to sign off, time to say goodbye. I'll leave you with Paolo:

Re: Closure of Forum

Most of them seem to be facebook victims :zipit: - or not interested in the band anymore To be fair, Bine, it's really not all surprising if interest has waned. The band has basically retired. There are to be no new albums and presumably no new songs. All the fans may get is a gig every now and aga...

Re: Closure of Forum

I do have your email address, Bine........

Sad that even after Crunchie's announcement only three people have responded. Perhaps says it all.

Closure of Forum

Well, I suppose it was inevitable. I can only say thank you to Crunchie for keeping the forum going in spite of minimal assistance from the Office and even less from the band. I think that the final straw for her must have been the refusal to repair the broken link to the forum on the band's officia...

Re: Last gig - Next gig.

Next gig - Reid Hall, Forfar, 3rd June - Donnie Munro & band, Skippinish, and Sketch. The latter describe their music as "mutant ceilidh techno", and I understand they are an "electro/techno/trad collective" from Skye and I suspect are either going to be brilliant or awful. DT

Re: Do you like 'The Story'?

So that's three people still playing it a lot and one playing selected tracks every now and again. Not a great endorsement...... But as you say, Bine, most fans are probably on Facebook or Twitter. Crunchie, as a matter of interest, do you have any record as to the number of people who visit this si...

Re: Do you like 'The Story'?

To be frank, Bine, no, not much. On the other hand, I have dug out The Cutter and the Clan and Searchlight, both of which I like a lot and are getting quite a lot of play. And I gave Amazing Things a spin and enjoyed it very much. However, dominating my mp3 player at the moment is Ballast der Republ...

Re: Do you like 'The Story'?

Well, that's a couple of months passed since "The Story" was released. Is anyone still playing it? Or is it now confined to the CD cabinet and largely forgotten?

P.S. It's Spring Bank Holiday weekend and we've got four inches of snow......

Re: 1993 Runrig Whiskey

Best keep it that way if you want to hold onto it as a possible investment (and keep the cardboard tube and signed certificate). Prices do vary. In recent years you could buy a bottle at auction for less than £100, but prices seem to have gone up since then. The most recent auction I've found (Febru...

That's an awful photo with the clip - is Rory auditioning for a zombie role? And has Malcolm just been goosed (and if so, by whom)?

Re: Do you like 'The Story'?

Bine, David doesn't say he's a "music expert" - he merely says that his considerable experience with CDs enables his to judge the quality of "sound production". He also mentions that he has a pretty good sound system whileas, of course, most of us these days listen to music in a ...

Re: Do you like 'The Story'?

Well, the album dropped through my letterbox this morning and I've now had the chance to listen to it in its entirety, but only once. Initial reaction is that it's a decent enough album, but certainly not a great one. However, this is not necessarily a Bad Thing - in the past I've often found that a...

Re: Wildlife Appreciation Thread.

I've just been watching Mr Sparrowhawk sitting on top of the hedge that divides our house from next door. I don't think he got anything, but he certainly has a detrimental, albeit only temporary, effect on the number of small birds that normally take advantage of the food that I put out, and I have ...

Re: Edinburgh Usher Hall 13 Feb

No, Owen, I can't say that I noticed or felt any discord among the band, although if there had been I doubt that I would have recognised it (unless, of course, they had come to blows or something  ). I just thought that the Dundee gig didn't really start particularly well and was initially ...

Dundee Caird Hall

This was a curious concert and I left it feeling rather like Owen clearly felt after Aberdeen. As far as i was concerned, Dundee was really a gig of two halves. The Caird Hall was full and, indeed, I heard of someone who'd paid £350 for two tickets! I have to say that the support act was not my cup ...
